Women's Varsity Eight Earns MAAC Honors

EDISON, N.J.-  The awards continue to row in for the Jacksonville University women’s program. In last weekend’s FIRA Championships the Dolphins captured the point and overall titles. Instrumental in the team earning those accolades was JU’s Varsity Eight Crew and for their efforts they have been named the MAAC Boat of the Week.

The Varsity Eight crew kicked off Day 2 of the regatta crossing the finish line in second place at 6:52.1. In one of the closest races of the day, Div. II No. 1 ranked Nova Southeastern beat out the Dolphins by 1.6 seconds. The boat consisted of Maycee Dioneda (COX), Danielle Keeler, Stefanie Keeler, Jules Welch, Cat Plesko, Victoria Hernandez, Jessica Matthews, Veronika Stasaityte, and Jordyn Clary.

In a few weeks, Jacksonville will be participating in the MAAC Rowing Championships held on April 26th at Mercer Lake in West Windsor, New Jersey.
