Sneed Awarded John McLendon Postgraduate Scholarship
Jacksonville, Fla.- Former Jacksonville University women’s basketball player Tracie Sneed has been named the 2013 recipient of the John McLendon Minority Postgraduate Scholarship by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA).
Sneed is one of six recipients of the grant which awards $10,000 to be used towards postgraduate studies. Always concerned with her play on the court as well as her studies, Sneed earned 2011-12 Atlantic Sun Conference All-Academic honors and graduated from JU in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in sociology and a minor in administration. In 2012, Sneed posted double-digits in scoring 17 times and established the second highest single-season free throw total in JU history.
JU’s head basketball coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin is proud of Sneed for continuing in her education and pursuing a master’s degree in athletics administration. “In the little time that I had with Tracie, I was immediately impressed with her focus and hunger for development and growth,” said McCuin.  “She is so deserving of the scholarship, and her JU family wishes her the best of luck.”
