Meyer, Clark & Turner Named to Academic All-Conference Team

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Three Jacksonville University track & field student-athletes were named to the 2014 Women’s Indoor Track & Field Academic All-Conference Team, the league office announced on Friday, March 7.

Senior Svenja Meyer, sophomore Kree Clark and redshirt freshman Samantha Turner all earned the honor. All the members of the team boast a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (GPA) or higher and participated in at least half of their team's games.

Meyer holds a 3.91 GPA in International Business & Accounting. During the Atlantic Sun Indoor Championships, Mayer won the 5,000-meter run in a school record time of 17:18.12, finished fifth in the 3,000-meter run and earned 14 team points. Meyer previously set her first of two school records this season at the Samford Invitational on Feb. 8, breaking time in her third-placed 3,000-meter run of 9:51.58.

Clark has earned a 3.85 GPA in Accounting. The sophomore won the weight throw (17.32m), placed third in the shot put (13.02m) and earned 16 team points at the A-Sun Indoor Championships.

Turner has recorded a 3.89 GPA in Marketing. She finished the A-Sun Indoor Championships with two second-placed finishes, tossing 15.97m in the weight throw and 13.17m in the shot put to contribute 16 team points towards Jacksonville’s ninth straight title.
