Alford and Reddick Earn All-Atlantic Sun Accolades
MACON, Ga. – Jacksonville University women’s basketball guards Queen Alford and Sherranda Reddick were respectively named to the Second Team All-Atlantic Sun and Atlantic Sun All-Freshmen Team on Monday.
The silent leader of JU is without a doubt sophomore Queen Alford. After a highly successful freshman debut which was crowned in earning JU’s first ever Freshman of the Year Award, she has continued to progress and mature in her second year. Directing the Dolphins with 13.4 points per game (9th in A-Sun) and steals at 2.1 (2nd), she also finishes second in rebounding at 6.2 RPG (12th). Typically one of the first one around the boards, Alford is posting 2.9 offensive rebounds per game (5th). She also sees the most action on the court for the Fins and in 877 minutes played this season she averages 31.3 a game to close out the top ten in the conference.
In the first game of the season, Reddick came off of the bench to knock in 26 points which included 6-of-9 shooting from downtown. After that game it didn’t take long for the coaching staff to place her in the starting lineup. Appearing in all 29 games in the season with 26 starts, Reddick is the second leading scorer on the Dolphins, averaging 12.6 points per game to go alongside 4.2 RPG, 1.8 APG and 1.6 SPG. Among the freshmen in the league, she is ranked fourth in scoring in the A-Sun, third in free throw percentage (77.9 percent), first in steals, first in 3-point field goal percentage (39.7) and second in treys made at 1.9 per game.
