JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The college basketball blog College Hoops Daily came out with its All-Atlantic Sun team on Monday and listed Jacksonville University sophomore Jarvis Haywood as one of its five all-conference selections.
Haywood finished third in the Atlantic Sun in scoring this season, averaging 16.6 points per game in 26 contests. He scored in double-figures 23 times and had six games of 20 or more points, including a career-high 29 at North Florida on Jan. 17. He was also named the Atlantic Sun Player of the Week on Feb. 24 after pouring in a combined 52 points in victories over East Tennessee State and USC Upstate.
Another thing that set Haywood apart from the rest of the conference was his efficiency on the offensive end. He ended the season shooting .509 from the field and .413 from three-point range, ranking among the top ten in each category, the only guard in the Atlantic Sun that can claim that. No slouch on defense, Haywood was eighth in the league in steals as well, averaging 1.3 a game.
After an All-Freshman season in 2012-13, Haywood was named to the Second Team All-Atlantic Sun this season in a vote of the league’s head coaches.
