Rowing Places Three on CRCA National Scholar-Athlete Team
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Three Jacksonville University rowers were honored as the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) awarded its academic accolades of the 2014 season. Receiving the recognition as CRCA National Scholar-Athletes were sophomores Jessica Mathews (Biology), Renee Pharis (Sociology) and Laura Stevenson (Aviation Management).

The Dolphins’ cumulative grade point averages were Mathews (3.95), Pharis (3.93) and Stevenson (3.78) and each of the ladies are reappearing on their second academic list of the season as they were each placed on the MAAC All-Academic Team.

To be eligible for the CRCA honors, a student-athlete must have had a 3.5 cumulative GPA or higher for her career, been in her 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of eligibility and row in her institution's NCAA or IRA eligible boat(s) for a minimum of 75% of the current spring races or racing in a regional conference event.
