JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Action at the 2014 NCAA East Preliminary Round begins this Thursday for Jacksonville University, which will send four student-athletes to compete. Hosted by the University of North Florida, the East Preliminary Round runs Thursday, May 29 to Saturday, May 31. The top 12 qualifiers out of this region will compete in the NCAA Division I Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships June 11-14 in Eugene, Oregon.
Representing the Dolphins are senior Svenja Meyer (steeplechase), junior Courtney Walker (400m), junior Shanique Walker (100m hurdles) and sophomore Kree Clark (discus).
Courtney Walker will get things started on Thursday with the first round of her event, the 400 meters scheduled for 7:45 pm.
For both the 100 hurdles and the 400, the field will first be cut from 48 to 27. The quarterfinals will cut those 27 down to 12 to advance to the national championships. For the field events, including the steeplechase, there is only one round of competition to narrow the field from 48 to 12 competitors Listed below is the complete schedule of events for Dolphins competing.

7:20 pm – 100 quarterfinals (Shanique Walker)
This marks the second consecutive year Courtney Walker (200 meters), Shanique Walker and Kree Clark have reached the Preliminary round while Meyer is making her first appearance. Shanique Walker went on to advance to the NCAA Championship where she finished 18th in the nation last season in the 100 hurdles.
