Strong Play At The Net Keys Dolphin Victory Over Troy State

Jacksonville, Fla. - The JU volleyball team celebrated Parent's Night with a 3-0 win over Troy State at Swisher Gymnasium Friday night. The games scores were 15-13, 15-7, and 15-6. Jacksonville (10-7, 4-0) has now won five straight matches and seven of its last eight. The Trojans fell to 6-16, 2-2.

The Dolphins jumped out to a quick 11-4 lead in game one before the Trojans rallied. But solid blocking and excellent serving carried JU, which has lost just two games in its last three matches. Sophomore Carrie Arago led a balanced JU attack with 14 kills while freshman Brook Ahrens had her most solid performance of the season with 6 kills and a hitting percentage of .556. Senior Kelly Hickam contributed a career high 5 service aces for JU, rated #6 in the nation in aces per game. Hickam also had a team high 9 digs.

Jacksonville returns to action Saturday, October 16 against UNC at Swisher Gym. Match time is 7:00 p.m.
