October 6, 1999

Jacksonville, Fla. - Sophomore Carrie Arago set a school record with 10 aces as Jacksonville (8-7, 3-0) defeated Bethune-Cookman (0-11) by the score of 3-0 (15-3, 15-5, 15-13) on Wednesday night at Swisher Gymnasium. The victory was the third straight for the Dolphins, pushing their record over the .500 mark for the first time in 1999.

Arago got her jump-serve going early as she ran off the first seven points of the match for JU on aces before the Lady Wildcats could return a serve. With a commanding seven point lead in hand, the Dolphins went on to take game one 15-3. Arago and the Dolphins continued their strong serving in games two and three as the team combined for 14 aces.

Seven different Dolphins recorded kills in the match, led by sophomore Jaclyn Buran's nine, while senior Lindsay Schriever notched a match-high 18 assists and team-high five digs. Sophomore Anna Cindric led the Lady Wildcats with five kills, as only three Bethune-Cookman players posted positive hitting percentages, leading to the team's .049 average for the match.

Jacksonville will return to action on Saturday, October 9th at 7:00 P.M when they host George Mason at Swisher Gymnasium.
