JU Drops Regular Season Finale 3-2 To GSU

November 13, 1999

Atlanta, Ga. - Jacksonville University (15-11, 7-2) dropped only their second conference match of the season in a tough five-game match with Georgia State (14-18, 5-4) at the GSU Sports Arena on Saturday night. With the 3-2 (15-13, 6-15, 16-14, 14-16, 15-11) victory Georgia State becomes the number four seed in the upcoming TAAC tournament, while JU remains the number two seed.

Five different players, led by sophomore Carrie Arago's 20, recorded double-digit kills for the Dolphins but it was not enough to overcome the Lady Panthers on their senior night. Georgia State senior Amber Davis recorded a match-high 24 kills, 10 digs and 10 blocks for her first career triple-double, while classmate setter Oksana Greydinger had 50 assists and 15 digs. Jacksonville setter Carrie Bosworth added 57 assists and seven digs to her 10 kills, falling just short of her sixth triple-double of the season. JU senior Kelly Hickam posted a match-high 23 digs in addition to her 18 kills.

The Dolphins will now prepare for the Trans America Athletic Conference Tournament November 19th and 20th in Boca Raton, Fla. As the number two seed, JU will have a bye into the tournament's semifinal match where they will face the winner of number six seeded Troy State and the third seed, and host, FAU. Georgia State will face Samford in the first round with the winner advancing to take on top seeded UCF.
