Volleyball Travels To Tallahasse To Take On Florida State

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville University volleyball team returns to action Wednesday night when the Dolphins travel to Tallahassee to take on in-state rival Florida State at 7:30 p.m.

JU enters the match 2-2 on the season, including last Wednesday's 3-0 win over Bethune-Cookman. The Dolphins have now won six straight games and eight of their last 11 dating back to a hard-fought 3-2 loss at Georgia Southern on Sept. 2.

Senior Brooke Jackson (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) leads the way for JU with 60 kills and 22 blocks (three solo). Freshman Kelly Ryals (Gainesville, Fla.), meanwhile, continues to have a solid rookie campaign and paces the squad with 51 digs while ranking second in kills with 46 and third in blocks with nine.

The Seminoles, meanwhile rattled off seven-consecutive wins to open the season, but picked up their first loss Saturday night when they fell to Ball State 3-1. FSU averages 16.5 kills a game and a .277 attack percentage.

After the showdown with Florida State, the Dolphins return to action Friday, Sept. 15 when they travel to Rhode Island to participate in the Brown University Tournament. JU takes on Princeton and La Salle on Friday before battling St. Peter's and host Brown on Saturday.

JU's next home match is Friday, Sept. 22, when the Dolphin's take on Stetson at 7:30 p.m. in Swisher Gymnasium.
