Volleyball Defeats Coastal Carolina, 3-1

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville University volleyball team extended its winning streak to four as the Dolphins defeated Coastal Carolina, 3-1, Saturday afternoon at Swisher Gymnasium.
Senior middle hitter Brooke Jackson (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) had 27, 10 digs and four blocks as JU improved to 6-4 on the year and remain undefeated at home.
Coastal Carolina (3-10), which dressed only six players for the match, played well early on and won game one, 15-12, and had a lead well into the second game. But the Dolphins refused to go away and tied the score at one game each with a 16-14 win.
After the intermission, the Dolphins kept the Lady Chanticleers at arm's length and won games four and five, 15-13 and 15-11, respectively.
Jackson led five Dolphins with double-digit kill totals with Radka Dimitrova (Sofia, Bulgaria) logging 13, Jessica Windell (Newport, Ore,) and Kelly Ryals (Gainesville, Fla.) each had 12 and Carrie Bosworth had 10. Ryals had a match-high 26 digs while Dimitrova finished with 21.
Jeanne Lambert led Coastal Carolina with 20 kills and 20 digs. Sarah Bennett, Jelena Mirkovic and Carly Draudt also finished with double-digit kill totals with 18, 17 and 12, respectively.
The Dolphins return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 26, when they take on Stetson in a non-conference match at 7:30 p.m. in Swisher Gymnasium.
