Jon Van Meter Named Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing and Promotions

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Jacksonville University has hired Jon Van Meter as assistant athletic director for marketing and promotions, athletic director Alan Verlander announced today.
Van Meter comes to JU after two years as the Director of Athletic Marketing at Samford University in Birmingham, Ala. At Samford, Van Meter directed season-ticket campaigns for football and basketball, managed the "Dog Pound", the official student booster club of Samford athletics, and was involved in planning and targeting fund raising for the athletics department.
"Jon has a great understanding for marketing college athletics," Verlander said. "He has a unique ability to put solid deals together that will benefit our athletic department. I am excited about what he will accomplish here at JU."
Van Meter, a native of Leawood, Kan., earned his bachelor's degree in journalism at the University of Missouri in 1999. He received a law degree from Missouri in May 2002 and is licensed to practice law in the state of Missouri.
