Men's Golf Signs Christian Martin

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville University men's golf team signed Christian Martin (Alexandria, Va.) of St. Stephens and St. Agnes (Va.) High School to a National Letter of Intent, head coach Jim Taketa announced today. Martin, an All-Interstate Athletic Conference (IAC) selection in 2004, becomes Taketa's first men's signee for the 2005-06 season.

Martin, who finished sixth at the IAC tournament last spring, finished in the top 16 at the Virginia State Golf Association tournament in 2004. He is a two-time event winner and finished in a tie for eighth at the 2004 Ashworth Junior Tournament at Hagerstown, Md., an American Junior Golf Association-sponsored event. Martin also finished second in both the Bellehaven Country Club Championship and the Bellehaven Junior Championship. He has +0.2 handicap and a 36.5 stroke average per nine holes for his senior year.
