    Jacksonville University is proud to announce that Rich Wallace has joined the Dolphin baseball program as its assistant head coach. He'll serve as the hitting coach and recruiting coordinator. Wallace comes to JU after three seasons in the same role at Creighton University.
  • Kulina Joins Dolphin Contingent in Pro Ball Ranks

    Another Dolphin is joining the ranks of professional baseball as Casey Kulina was signed as a free agent on Monday by the Arizona Diamondbacks. Kulina is the second member of the 2017 Dolphin squad headed to the pros. He joins Michael Baumann, who was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the third round on June 13.

  • Baumann Becomes Third Dolphin Third-Rounder in Baltimore System

    With the 98th pick in the third round of the 2017 Major League Baseball (MLB) Draft, the Baltimore Orioles selected Jacksonville University's Michael Baumann Tuesday. Baumann joins former Dolphins Austin Hays (2016 Baltimore/Round 3), Chris Anderson (2013 Los Angeles Dodgers/Round 1), and Adam Brett Walker (2012 Minnesota Twins/Round 3) as the fourth top-three round draft pick in the last six years. Baumann, Hays, and Walker are all now a part of the Baltimore farm system.

While he fell just short of the first part of that goal, he did help lead Jacksonville (36-22, 16-5 ASUN) to another win in the ASUN Baseball Championship Friday afternoon, and the Dolphins are sitting on the doorstep of its first tournament championship since 2009.

    The 2017 ASUN Regular season champions continue their postseason journey Friday in the third round of the ASUN Conference tournament. #1 Jacksonville University (35-22, 16-5 ASUN) will face fifth-seeded Kennesaw State University (25-30, 10-11 ASUN) at 12 p.m. in Stetson’s Melching Field. In the regular season the Dolphins took two of three from Kennesaw, but had their 13-game winning streak snapped in the series finale.

    Resiliency has been one of the common themes for Jacksonville University baseball this season, and it was on display again in a come-from-behind effort for the Dolphins on Thursday night. JU (35-22, 16-5 ASUN) fell behind early to North Florida (33-24, 12-9 ASUN), but scored seven unanswered runs over the course of the final five innings to prevail 8-5 over the Ospreys and improve to 2-0 in the ASUN Baseball Championship.

In the regular season the Dolphins swept the Bisons, but JU hasn’t won an ASUN tournament game since 2014.

The Sunday win gave JU a season sweep of the Spartans as the Dolphins outscored Upstate 20-2 over the series.

    In a rubber match between Jacksonville University (27-20, 11-4 ASUN) and Stetson University (22-26, 10-5 ASUN), the Dolphins led for most of the game but fell to the Hatters 3-1 after allowing three runs to score in the ninth. Stetson took the season series 2-1, giving JU its first ASUN Conference series loss of the year.
