Wednesday: #23 RHP Mark Potter (2-1, 4.79 ERA) vs. #32 RHP Josh Wilson (0-2, 5.65 ERA)
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Undefeated in the month of April, Jacksonville University (22-16, 8-1 ASUN) wraps up its homestand Wednesday with Florida A&M University (19-16, 9-6 MEAC). The Dolphins will put Mark Potter on the mound as they look for their 11th-straight victory. The Rattlers, who took two of three from Bethune-Cookman this past weekend, will throw Josh Wilson. It's also Green Dot Night.
A season sweep of Lipscomb University (17-17, 3-6 ASUN) gave the Dolphins their eighth, ninth, and 10th consecutive victories. Michael Baumann became the all-time leader in career strikeouts, and Angel Camacho took his second consecutive ASUN Player of the Week award. The last time JU won 10 games in a row was 2001, when the Dolphins won from March 6 to March 17.
Scouting the Opponent
The Dolphins previously bested the Rattlers this season on March 14, when JU won 12-5 at FAMU. Jacksonville leads the all-time series by a wide margin, but the Florida A&M has been quite a bit more competitive recently, taking four in a row in 2014 and 2015. As a team the Rattlers are hitting just as well as the Dolphins (.284) and trail in runs scored by just one (214-213). But FAMU's pitching staff has a slightly higher ERA, 4.59 to 3.71.
The Dolphins will end April at Kennesaw State (17-19, 6-3 ASUN) April 21-23, then take the rest of the month off for JU's finals week and graduation.
