Dolphins Look To Celebrate Homecoming Against Davidson On Saturday

Its Homecoming week on the Jacksonville University campus and the Dolphins are ready to roll. Owning one the most proflic offensive attacks in the nation this season, JU will play host to Davidson at 1:00 pm on Saturday highlighting an action packed week of events on campus.

'Fin Facts

  • Jacksonville (3-4; 2-2) welcomes a return to D.B Milne Field at 1:00 pm on Saturday for a Homecoming match-up against Davidson (0-7; 0-4)
  • The Dolphins are coming off a 52-45 win at Campbell that marked the return of starting QB Kade Bell to the line-up
  • The Dolphins big play offense racked up over 500 yards of offense again last week and enters this week ranked seventh in the nation with 496.6 yards per game
  • JU also owns the ninth highest scoring offense in the nation putting up a PFL  best 40.3 points per game
  • The 52 points scored against Campbell mark the third time this season and the 11th time under Kerwin Bell the Dolphins have broke the 50 point plateau
  • Penalties have plagued JU this season. With an average of 10.7 penalties per game, the Dolphins are the most penalized team in the nation

Offensive Notes

Bell Picks Up Where He Left Off

  • After missing the previous three games with an appendectomy, sophomore QB Kade Bell threw four touchdown passes and 251 yards while adding another 34 yards rushing in his return to the starting line-up
  • In his last five complete games dating back to 2012 Bell has now thrown for 19 touchdowns and an average of 263 yards per game
  • The performance marked the third time in 12 career games that Bell has had four TDs in a single game
  • More importantly the Dolphins improved to 6-0 all-time in PFL games when Bell is under center for a full game

Robustelli a Deep Ball threat

  • Junior Andrew Robustelli continues to cause havoc for opposing secondaries leading the PFL with a 22.2 yards per reception average
  • Robustelli also ranks among the top receivers in the nation in receiving touchdowns, yards and yards per game
  • He is also the only player in the nation this season to catch two pass for longer than 75 yards

Scoring With The Speed of Florida

  • Powered on the strength of multiple offensive weapons, the Dolphins quick strike offense has accounted for 23 scoring drives this season in five plays or less
  • The average scoring drive for the Dolphins this season is 5.3 plays covering 1:41

Bryant Emerging In the Backfield

  • Over his last three games freshman running back Ulysses Bryant has emerged as a consistent backfield threat for the Dolphins averaging 114 yards per game and producing three touchdowns
  • On the season Bryant ranks sixth nationally amongst freshmen running backs with 73.5 yards per game


Defensive Notes

Riley and White Putting Pressure On the QB

  • Defensive lineman Maroa White and Aaron Riley are the top defensive line duo in the PFL combining for a league best 11.5 sacks
  • The duo posted 3.5 sacks at Campbell last week
  • Riley ranks second in the league with six sacks averaging .86 per game. While meanwhile is fourth with 5.5 sacks this season
  • Riley has 20 tackles on the season, including 17 solo stops
  • White meanwhile has had at least one tackle for loss in each of the last four games

No Fly Zone

  • The Dolphins have shut down opponents air attack allowing 174.7 yards per game, ranking JU 15th in the nation
  • Sr. Andre Addison has played a key role in shutting down the opposition having posted nine pass break ups on the year, ranking him second in the PFL
  • Four of his pass breakups came against Butler, including two that ended drives on fourth down

McRae a Magnet For The Football

  • Sophomore defensive back Antonio McRae has had a knack for finding the football this season
  • McCrae has had at least one takeaway in four of the seven games this season
  • He leads the PFL and is tied for 15th in the nation with three interceptions on the year


Special Teams Notes

Something Special About Lynch

  • Sr. PK/P Dylan Lynch has become a regular name in the JU record book since joining the Dolphins from FIU prior to the 2012 season
  • Already this season he has earned national Special Teams Player of the Week honors from the Sports Network and three Pioneer Football League Special Teams Player of the Week awards
  • He was also recognized as one of 10 FCS place kickers by The Fred Mitchell Award recognizes 26 place-kickers excellence on the football field and in the community during the month of September
  • Last week he booted a 79 yard punt to set the JU record for the third time this season; The punt also marked the third longest by a FCS player this season
  • Lynch is the only player in the nation with three punts over 70 yards this season
