POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Marist quarterback Anthony Francis hit receiver Armani Martin on a 29-yard touchdown pass with five seconds to play to lead the Red Foxes to a 17-16 upset win over Jacksonville on Saturday.

The score was the second in the last 7:35 of the game for Marist (3-6, 3-3 Pioneer Football League) which had been stopped cold the first three quarters. The Red Foxes gained only 180 yards on offense for the game, including just 8 yards rushing.

Meanwhile, the Dolphins (7-2, 5-1) rolled up 415 yards but converted only once on seven trips to the red zone and saw their seven-game win streak snapped. They remain in a tie for first with Dayton in the PFL. Dayton beat Valparaiso 42-19 Saturday while Campbell, which had one league loss heading into the day, lost to Stetson, 28-24.

With the Dolphins up 13-3 in the fourth quarter, Marist fought back first on a 1-yard run by senior Atiq Lucas. That touchdown was the result of an interception by safety Zach Adler on a throw by Bell. The result was a six-play, 63-yard drive.

Following the Lucas score, the Dolphins started a drive on their own 43 and got down to the Marist 4 yard-line before a penalty and three failed plays put the ball back at the Marist 17. The Dolphins settled for Brandon Behr's 34-yard field goal with 2:39 to play.

The Red Foxes then went on their winning drive starting on their own 35.

The drive lasted 13 plays and saw Francis get out of trouble on several occasions before connecting with Martin.

After falling behind 3-0 in the first quarter, JU went up 7-3 with 12:41 to play in the first half when quarterback Kade Bell hit running back Ulysses Bryant on a 1-yard pass, the team's only touchdown of the day.

Behr hit his first of three field goals, a 23-yarder, with 1:07 to play in the second quarter. Behr added kicks of 28 and 34 yards in the second half.

Bell finished the day going 29 of 40 for 306 yards with the touchdown and a pair of picks and the loss snapped a seven-game JU win streak.

Bryant had 57 yards rushing and 41 receiving to lead the Dolphins. Francis was 14 of 29 for 172 yards in the air.

JU linebacker Grady Redding led the team in tackles with eight and the defense had a season-high six sacks.
