TAMPA, Fla. – Former Jacksonville University defensive back Dallas Jackson signed a rookie contract with the Tampa Bay Storm of the Arena Football League on Aug. 4. Jackson, who graduated following the 2015 season as one of the most prolific defensive backs in school history, is set to bolster the Storm heading into Sunday's playoff contest against the Philadelphia Soul, which will be broadcast on ESPN2 at 6:00 P.M. ET.
"I've been working hard and it's been a long process to get to this point," said Jackson. "I'm excited to sign with a team and coaches that have embraced me. I will continue to work hard and strive to be great."
Last year, Jackson again tied Jacksonville's single-season record for interceptions with five after doing so in 2014. He finished his Dolphin career with 11 picks, good for second in the school's record book. The Palmetto, Fla., native had three pass breakups, four tackles-for-a-loss, and 47 tackles in 11 games. The safety was named 2015 Honorable Mention All-Pioneer Football League, College Football Performance Awards Defensive Back of the Year Watch List, and participated in the National Bowl All-Star game in Dec. 2015.
Jackson joins wide receiver Andrew Robustelli of the Jacksonville Sharks as the second Dolphin representing JU in the AFL.
