Rylan Wells Named November Pepsi Co. Student-Athlete of the Month

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Every month, Pepsi Co. recognizes a Jacksonville University student-athlete for exemplary performance in competition and in the classroom. Quarterback Rylan Wells of the Dolphin football team has earned the accolade for the month of November.

Wells rushed for a career-best four touchdowns in the season-ending victory over Marist, one trip to the end zone shy of tying the school-record. He rushed 22 times for 114 yards, and much like all season, led a balanced attack with 255 passing yards on a 14-21 effort. His efforts earned him the Pioneer Football League's Player of the Week on Nov. 20. In the month of November, he rushed for 350 yards and six scores, and completed 37 passes for 590 yards and two touchdowns.

On the season, the redshirt-junior from Tega Cay, S.C. scored 11 rushing touchdowns, fourth-most in JU single-season history, and led the Dolphins with 614 rushing yards. His 66 points were tied for best on the team. The signal caller became the first player in Jacksonville history to lead the Dolphins in both rushing and passing with his 1,744 yards through the air. Wells was the catalyst of a 2016 offense that set a JU single-season record with 2,482 rushing yards and 29 touchdowns on the ground.
