Dolphins End Successful Season at Tuscaloosa Regional

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Jacksonville University men's golf team wrapped up an incredibly successful season Wednesday in the final round of the 2016 NCAA Tuscaloosa Regional, held at the Ol' Colony Golf Course over the past three days.

"We were all very excited about Franck and David getting the chance to play in the regional," said Head Coach Mike Blackburn. "That's where we want to be at this time of the year. Both of our guys played well, collecting seven birdies between the two of them, but they didn't get much of a score out of it. We learned a lot, and it was a great experience. We just didn't get the result we were hoping for."

David Wicks scored 73 in the final round, totaling 225 (74+78+73) for the tournament. The Atlantic Sun Conference Individual Champion finished nine-over-par, finishing tied for 44th overall.

Franck Medale also scored 73 in the final round, giving him a total of 226 (77+76+73). The senior from Valence d'Agen, France, finished 10-over-par, tying for 46th overall.

Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Kentucky, and Auburn will advance to the NCAA Championships in the team competition, and William Rainey, who finished third overall, will advance in the individual competition, both of which will be played on May 27-June 1 at Eugene Country Club in Eugene, Ore.

"We're all positive and excited about the future," said Blackburn. "Elliott Fullalove, who we signed to the 2016-17 roster, is currently in the top five in the junior college nationals. His addition will make an already great team even better, and hopefully we'll continue building on what we did this season."
