WALTON, ENGLAND – Competing across the pond in his home country of England, incoming Jacksonville University men's golf transfer Thomas Thurloway joined prestigious company last week.
The incoming junior fought through temperatures exceeding 90 degrees to capture the Walton Heath Trophy for the Michael Lunt Salver on July 26, shooting 9-under, 279 for the tournament. His performance included rounds of 69, 68, 69 and 73 at the Walton Heath Golf Club, host of the 2018 British Master's.
Thurloway, who began his collegiate career at the University of Toledo, joins a distinguished list of Walton Heath winners that includes 2016 Master's Champion Danny Willett, who took home the title in 2007.
The Crawley, England native held a stroke average of 74.60 through 28 rounds during the 2017-18 campaign and was named the Mid-America Conference freshman of the year the previous season.
