VERO BEACH, Fla.
– It was moving day on Monday at the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational and the Jacksonville University men's golf team took full advantage, posting the second-lowest score in the field (-9, 279) to climb into sole possession of fifth place in a stacked field.

Eduardo Carrete was on fire on Monday morning. He teed it up on the 10th hole and kicked things off with the team's lone birdie on that hole before posting a -5, 31 on the back that featured four birdies and an eagle on the par 5, 14th. Be made the turn with three-straight pars before falling victim to a double bogey on the third. He shook that off with four consecutive birdies, a par and a birdie to close out the round at -8, 64. That round was good enough to push him into a tie for fifth overall.

Carrete's 64 is tied for the second-lowest single round in program history. That matches efforts by David Wicks at the Donald Ross Intercollegiate in 2015 and Christian Martin at the Don Benbow Invite in 2009.

Sam Uhland maintained his consistency with a -1, 71 for the second-straight day with five birdies to move into a tie for 14th overall while Thomas Thurloway and Michael Sakane posted an even-par 72's to move into ties for 34th and 44th, respectively.

The Dolphins are now 17 shots clear of fellow ASUN competitor Lipscomb at this event at posting the 20th best single round team score in program history and will be chasing the four leaders South Florida (-18), North Florida (-17), Arkansas State (-13) and Michigan State (-8) with one round to play on Tuesday.

Jacksonville will tee off on the first hole on Tuesday alongside individuals from Notre Dame, Louisiana-Monroe and Sam Houston State. Davis Smith will lead off JU at 8 a.m. followed by Michael Sakane (8:10), Thomas Thurloway (8:20), Sam Uhland (8:30) and Eduardo Carrete (8:40).
