JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville University men's rowing program fared well in the First Coast Head Race on Saturday. Launching from their backyard, the St. Johns River, the Dolphins recorded a No. 1 finish against Florida State and Embry-Riddle.
Two Jacksonville boats competed in the Varsity Four event and it was the Dolphin A boat, coxed by Stephen McDonald, that was victorious in the intrasquad meet, holding off the B crew by32.6 seconds.
Later, JU closed out the regatta in the final race of the day with the Varsity Eight crews. The Dolphins posted the two best times to finish first and second while Florida State and Embry-Riddle rounded out the field.
