Dolphins Continue Spring Racing in the Governor’s Cup

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville University men's rowing program continues its spring racing season against Florida Tech and Columbia in the Governor's Cup on Saturday.

The Dolphins are coming off of Oklahoma City's Opening Day and Opening Night regatta where they faced the host OCU and Wichita State. In 500-meter night sprints on Saturday, the Dolphins finished second in all but one race where they placed third. The Stars swept the events with Jacksonville closely on their tales. In the races where JU came in second, the margins of difference between the No. 1 and No. 2 spots were less than three seconds.

In Sunday's 2,000-meter races, the Fins again finished second with times of 6:25.3 and 6:30.4.

The Governor's Cup is JU's second of seven regular-season regattas. Its varsity eight crew will be making the trip to Fellsmere, Fla. and takes on FIT at 11:20 a.m.

Following Saturday's competition, Jacksonville heads to Sarasota, Fla. on April 3 for the FIRA Championships.
