Dolphins Advance to Dad Vail Semifinals

PHILADELPHIA – The Jacksonville University men's rowing program accomplished its first objective on Friday at the Dad Vail Regatta, advancing each of its boats into Saturday's semifinals. JU's varsity four and pair return to the Schuylkill River tomorrow morning with a chance to reach the finals in the afternoon.

Jacksonville's pair of Andrew Bechtold and Travis Pulliam raced in one event on the day. Clocking in at 7:21.337, the duo finished second behind High Point University (7:15.488). Bechtold and Pulliam compete against North Carolina, Dayton, Loyola Maryland, Merchant Marine and Connecticut tomorrow at 9 a.m.

There was a quite a finish in Dolphins' varsity four race as the crew snuck into the semis by a margin of .011 seconds. With the top three boats moving on, JU clinched the third and final spot in 7:15.885, beating out the fourth place College of Charleston who posted a time of 7:15.896. The men's next V4 race features Virginia, Michigan, Brock, Colgate and Drexel at 10:14 a.m.
