MAAC Boat of the Year Honors for Men’s Eights

EDISON, N.J. – Accolades continue to pour in for the newly-crowned MAAC champions, the Jacksonville University men's rowing program. This past Sunday, the Dolphins earned their first conference title in program history. Monday, five student-athletes were named to the MAAC All-Academic Team, and today, Thursday, May 21, 2015, two boats were placed on the 2015 All-MAAC Rowing Team.

Voted on by the league's head coaches, JU's varsity eight and second varsity eight crews received Boat of the Year honors.  

Jacksonville's varsity eight featured coxswain Stephen McDonald and rowers Zach Kelso, Scott Waitley, Scott Marx, Nathan Esterline, Luke Myhree, Luciano Mercenari, Victor Gargaun, and Shane Barnett. Posting a time of 5:54.069, the crew defeated all other conference competitors in a winner-take-all final to secure the team's regatta victory.

The Dolphins' V8 also finished first in its final with a winning time of 6:12.807. The boat contained coxswain Alexander Tate and rowers William Vanneck, Andrew Bechtold, Erik Fournier, Jake Capistran, Chase Rowe, Zach McKenna, Chris Nichols, and Travis Pulliam.
