Men’s Rowing Opens Spring Slate at Knecht Cup

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville University's men's rowing program opens its spring slate this weekend at the Knecht Cup in West Windsor Township, N.J. The defending Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference champions will take with them four boats.

"The team's had a few scrimmages so far, so we're really looking forward to attending a major regatta," said Head Coach Marci Robles. "The Knecht Cup provides the opportunity to go up against some very fast crews that we'll see again later this spring.

"Most of the team is doubling up, so we'll have several chances to test and improve our race plan. This weekend will be a great chance to learn what we need to fine tune as we head into preparations for SIRA next week."

The Knecht Cup, a two-day regatta on Mercer Lake, will feature over 70 schools from across the nation. While Jacksonville hasn't officially raced since the Head of the Hooch in November, scrimmages against Duke, Boston College, William & Mary and fellow MAAC foe Stetson have prepped the team for spring action.

The Dolphins welcomed six freshman to the team in the fall, and all will compete this weekend.
