Dolphins Welcome Columbia, George Mason for Jacksonville Invitational

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville softball will face Columbia for the first time in program history and welcomes back George Mason for the three-day Jacksonville Invitational, beginning Friday, March 17 at Debbie & Fred Pruitt Softball Complex.

Last Outing against Yale, USF

Freshman pitcher Seana Mora faced the minimum number of batters in the final 1.2 innings to seal a 5-4 win over Yale in nine innings, Wednesday afternoon at USF. Allie McCourt drove in two runs, while Heather Roberts and Madison Ragan added an RBI each to help Jacksonville to victory in its first contest in program history with the Bulldogs.

Jacksonville tallied runs in the first and second innings for a quick 4-0 lead, but the five-run inning in the third shifted the momentum in favor of the host Bulls in game two. Two runs each in the fifth and sixth innings guided South Florida to a 9-6 win, despite the Dolphins’ two-run rallying effort in the top of the sixth.

  • The Dolphins enter the 2017 Jacksonville Invitational with a 17-11 record.
  • Six Dolphins are hitting above .250: Allie McCourt (.389), Heather Roberts (.355), Madison Ragan (.350), Ashley McNally (.333), Makenzie Buss (.274), and Danielle Baker (.269).

  • Jess Curbeira leads the Patriots at the plate with a .310 batting average, followed by Erin Calpin (.308), Katherine Marsh (.273), and Madison Aker (.269).
  • Curbeira and Marsh have both hit home runs for the Patriots this season.
  • Sydnee Wells leads the team with six RBI, followed by Curbeira with five and Jess Middleton with four.
  • Mary-Elizabeth Luttrell leads the Patriots with a perfect 5-for-5 in stolen bases.
