JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Opening March with its final home tournament of the season, Jacksonville University plays host to four teams in the 2018 Jacksonville Invitational – co-hosted by the University of North Florida – this weekend, March 2-4, at the Debbie & Fred Pruitt Softball Complex.
The tournament consists of three games each on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday as the Dolphins welcome Campbell, Iowa State, Presbyterian, and Virginia Tech.
Last Time Out
The Dolphins split the first two days of the Green and Gold Classic, with wins over Western Carolina and Penn State on the weekend.
With an 8-7 overall record, Jacksonville leads the ASUN Conference with 0.47 doubles per game. JU has also picked up where it left off last season, with 2.33 stolen bases per game – good for second in the league and 14th nationally.

The Camels enter the weekend with an 8-8 record overall, with their most recent win a 16-2 victory at Virginia this past Wednesday.

Scouting Iowa State
The Cyclones enter the weekend with an 8-7 record, and are fresh off a 2-3 weekend at the Aquafina Invitational hosted by the University of Florida. Iowa State defeated Georgia Southern in the tournament opener, 1-0, and took down Illinois State, 5-4, before falling to Maryland and dropping two against the Gators.

The Series with the Cyclones
Iowa State leads 2-1 in the all-time series. The teams previously met in 2009, in a three-day three-game series, with the Cyclones taking the inaugural meeting, 4-2, and the most recent meeting, 4-1. The Dolphins took the second-ever meeting by a score of 5-3.
The Blue Hose enter the weekend with a 1-11 record overall, and previously defeated Iona earlier in the season, 10-5.
