    In a season packed with historic milestones, it’s only fitting that Jacksonville University women’s basketball battled back to take its first round Women’s National Invitation Tournament matchup with the University of Central Florida into overtime, Wednesday evening at CFE Arena. The game did not lack dramatic flair as junior Jasmyn Brown drained a pass from senior Brandi Buie with 1.6 seconds remaining in regulation to send the game into overtime, where the Dolphins ultimately fell to the Knights, 65-60.

    Trivia question: which year is the year of the milestone? For Jacksonville University women’s basketball, it would be 2018. So far, the Dolphins have seen two 1,000-career point scorers (in the same game, no less), a new all-time leader in rebounds, and just two days ago, earmarked the 2017-18 season as their third-straight with 20+ wins. Jacksonville once again made history this season as its 73-53 victory over NJIT Monday evening at Swisher Gym marked the 250th all-time win in the program’s 18-year history. To put it into perspective, 91 of those 250 wins have occurred in the five-year tenure that head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin has led the Dolphins.

With the victory, the Dolphins (20-7, 10-2 ASun) secured their third consecutive 20-win season and are now just one away from the program’s 250th triumph.

Reaching milestones is nothing new for the Jacksonville University women’s basketball senior forward; reaching milestones against a certain team from Nashville actually seems to be commonplace this season. With 14 rebounds last night in the Dolphins’ 70-63 win at Lipscomb, she became Jacksonville’s all-time leading rebounder in the program’s 18-year history with 961.
