JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Opening ASUN Conference play on the road, Jacksonville University women's basketball heads across town to North Florida with the first winter installment of the River City Rumble this Saturday, Jan. 6 at 2:00 p.m.
The Dolphins are 3-1 in ASUN openers against UNF, and have posted victories in each of the previous three seasons against the Ospreys when opening league play.
JU's Last Outing
Shooting 57.1 percent from the field and outscoring Savannah State 28-11 in the third quarter, the Dolphins reached double-digit wins on the season behind a 74-46 victory over Savannah State at Swisher Gym.
All 14 Dolphins saw time on the floor as Jasmyn Brown (18 points), Brandi Buie (15 pts.), and Shakayla Nevitt (13 pts.) all scored in double figures. Kayla Gordon paced both teams behind eight rebounds, while Jasmyn Brown and Alexis Pierce added six apiece.
The last time Jacksonville welcomed two players to the 1K club in a single season was in the 2015-16 campaign (Briona Brown & Sherranda Reddick).
Brown currently ranks fourth all-time in points and is the older sister of captain Jasmyn Brown. Reddick graduated a year ago, and is the Dolphins' all-time leading scorer.
Senior captain Kayla Gordon has 25 career double-doubles to her credit, and earned her first of the 2017-18 season at Nicholls State with 13 rebounds and 11 points.

Ten Non-Conference Wins
After setting the program record for single-season non-conference victories last year, the Dolphins have once again crossed the double-digit win threshold prior to the start of league play. Continuing the trend, four of Jacksonville's victories came against first-time opponents in Iona (Nov. 13), Monmouth (Nov. 24), Webber International (Nov. 25), and Flagler (Dec. 10).
Last season's Dolphins rewrote the program's record books with 11 non-conference victories, and tied the single-season win record – first set in 2007-08 – with an overall record of 23-9.
Scouting the Opposition
North Florida currently holds a 7-8 record on the season, with its most recent wins against Edward Waters (Dec. 20), Northern Kentucky (Dec. 19), and Florida A&M (Dec. 10).
Scoring Leader | Keonna Farmer (14.3 PPG) … Farmer and Tesh Hanson (11.2 PPG) are scoring in double figures
Rebounding Leader | Keonna Farmer (8.3 RPG) … Farmer and two others (Hanson – 7.1 RPG and Maiya Rumph – 5.1 RPG) are averaging more than five rebounds per game
Jacksonville leads the all-time series, 18-8, with victories in the last nine meeting between the teams. The Dolphins are also 6-5 when playing the Ospreys at UNF Arena, and JU holds a 3-1 lead over UNF in ASUN openers.
