Following her six-point (4 goals, 2 assists) performance to lead Jacksonville University women's lacrosse to a thrilling 17-16 victory over Ohio State last Friday, senior midfielder Ashtyn Hiron was voted Alpha Lacrosse National Player of the Week, as announced by Inside Lacrosse yesterday afternoon. Hiron also tallied an astounding 11 draws, scooped up a ground ball, and finished 3-for-3 on free-position shots.
A member of the Australian Women's Lacrosse National Team that competed in the 2017 FIL Rathbone's Women's World Cup and the 2017 World Games last summer, the Perth, Western Australia native leads the ASUN Conference in goals (10), points (12), and draw controls (20). She also ranks second in the league with seven caused turnovers.
It is the first time in program history that a Dolphin has earned national player of the week honors.
