WROW Welcomes Assistant Coach Maggie Dwyer

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Head Coach Mike Lane welcomes Maggie Dwyer to the Jacksonville University women's rowing staff as an assistant coach beginning May 1. A former four-year varsity rower and team captain at the University of Pennsylvania, Dwyer was coached by Lane at his previous post.

"I could not be more fired up to have Maggie joining our staff!," said Lane. "I recruited Maggie out of high school and coached her for four years at Penn.  She knows my system, and knows what I am about as a coach.  She will have a dramatic impact on the success of our program!  Her rowing ability, people skills, and ability to teach the stroke will help our current athletes. She will also help us to continue to recruit the best talent to JU."

While at Penn, Dwyer spent all four years competing in the varsity eight and second varsity eight boats, helping the program to its best finish at the Ivy League Championship in 2015.

Upon graduation, she served as an assistant coach with the Fairmount Rowing Association Junior Summer Rowing Program. She has also spent time with the Quaker Rowing Camp, the U.S. Rowing National Team Development Camp, and the Conestoga Summer Rowing Camps.

She has finished sixth at the U.S. Rowing Youth Nationals in the varsity four and second at the U-23 U.S. Rowing Club Nationals.

Dwyer earned her bachelor's degree in sociology and plans complete a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Jacksonville University.
