JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville University women's rowing is pleased to announce the addition of Bridget Kelly to the staff as a graduate assistant coach for the 2018-19 season.
"I could not be more excited to get Bridget on campus," said Head Coach Mike Lane. "She has come highly recommended and could not be more thrilled to get to work."
Kelly comes to JU after a four-year stint as a rower at Syracuse, where she helped the team to two NCAA Championships and the highest ranking in school history. Academically, she was an Athletic Director Honor Roll member all eligible semesters, made the ACC Academic Honor Roll seven semesters, was on the Dean's List from Spring 2016 to Spring 2018 and served on the Syracuse University Society of Leadership and Success.
At JU, she will primarily work with the Novice athletes on the team, while pursuing her MBA.
"She has a great, calming personality, which, coupled with Coach Maggie Dwyer and myself, will make us a powerful combination of coaches in the coming years," said Lane. "I always work to hire in areas that are my weakness and I believe Coach Kelly will be a huge asset to complement our weaknesses, as well as personalities."
JU women's rowing is coming off of another successful season, in which the team won a fifth consecutive MAAC Championship and advanced to the NCAA Championships. Six team members were named All-Conference performers and Lane earned Coach of the Year honors for the third straight season. The Dolphins also placed 20 student-athletes on the MAAC Academic Honor Roll, with 13 of those additionally earning MAAC All-Academic honors.
