BOSTON, Mass. – The Jacksonville University women's rowing team got its 2018-19 campaign started in style on Saturday afternoon at the largest Head race in the world, the Head of Charles, where it competed in the Club 4+ event, posting a top 10 finish.
The Dolphins posted an adjusted time of 19:10.971 to finish seventh overall in the 52-team field which is a four-spot improvement over last season's 11th place finish in the same event and seven spots better than the 14th place finish in 2016. The Club 4+ team that competed in this event consisted of coxswain Alexandria Kyriakidis, (4) Sara Miller, (3) Meg Coyle, (2) Madison Boyer and (1) Caroline Wells.
"Excited to finish top ten," head coach Mike Lane said of the effort. "Kids raced hard and had a great experience being introduced to the festival of the Head of Charles. We came up here with a mission to finish in the top ten and that was accomplished. Now we look forward to racing our entire team next weekend at the Stetson invite."
Next up for Jacksonville will be the Stetson Invite in Deland, Fla. Next Saturday (Oct. 27).
