JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville University women's soccer program has returned to campus and preseason practices and workouts have commenced. In quest of an Atlantic Sun title, the Dolphins began camp last week and will have little time to prepare for their first exhibition match.
Three friendlies highlight the Fins' preseason schedule with Thomas and USF visiting Southern Oak Stadium Aug. 13 and Aug. 16, respectively.
In addition to the excitement that comes along with their current preparations, the Dolphins have nine newcomers that will require adaptation to the JU way.
Jacksonville is coming off of a 10-8-1 season that concluded in the opening round of the Atlantic Sun Championship. The team is expected to welcome back 14 letterwinners from last year's squad, including Second Team All-Atlantic Sun and Freshman Team recipient Sope Akindoju and its third leading scorer from a year ago in senior Marie Weckhurst.
The regular season kicks off at Georgia Southern on Aug. 21 at 7 p.m.
