MACON, Ga. – The Atlantic Sun Conference announced its women's soccer preseason honors and coaches' poll Wednesday, and three members of the Jacksonville University team are represented on the list.
Short looks to build on an inaugural Dolphin campaign that featured ASUN First Team, Freshmen Team and All-Tournament selections. She started every match last season as a defender and played all but one minute due to injury.
d'Entremont, a junior forward, appeared in 14 matches last season with 13 starts. After recording a goal and three assists – the third most points on the team – she was named to the ASUN Second Team. Most of her offensive stats occurred in conference play.
"We're excited to see Lauren and Joelle recognized by their peers for their body of work," said Head Coach Brian Copham. "I know they have both worked hard in preparation for this year. They are their own toughest critics so we look forward to seeing them continue to excel this fall."
With 312 Facebook votes, Wicks was the clear choice for the Fan-Voted Goalie of the Year. A year ago, she posted a record of 6-8-3 while ranking second in the ASUN in saves (107) and save percentage (.829) and fourth in goals against average (1.31). She earned a pair of shutouts on the road at USC Upstate and Kennesaw State to assist the Dolphins in clinching a berth in the conference tournament. For her efforts, she was named Atlantic Sun Second Team.
In the coaches' poll, the reigning ASUN regular season champions, Florida Gulf Coast, were selected to repeat. The Eagles received seven first place votes while Lipscomb, picked to finish second, tabbed one. Jacksonville was selected to finish third.
