JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville University's women's soccer team hasn't dropped a River City matchup since 2007. The Dolphins are unbeaten in their last 10 outings after posting a 1-0 road victory at North Florida Saturday night.
The lone goal of the evening came in the 74th minute on a penalty kick by freshman Maya Fisher. The score snapped the Osprey's three-match winning streak.
"Great win tonight," said Head Coach Brian Copham. "What a way to open up conference play!
"We had a lot of people step up to help us be successful. This was a great team effort. I'm very pleased with the win, and almost equally as pleased with the shutout."
Jacksonville evened the 2016-17 River City Rumble standings at 1-1 after a foul from behind led to a Fisher penalty kick. She tucked the shot into the upper right corner of the net.
The Dolphins return to the friendly confines of Southern Oak Stadium next Friday against the Bisons of Lipscomb University.
