MADISON, N.J. – A first half goal by Carly Berdan gave the New Jersey Institute of Technology a 1-0 decision over the Jacksonville University women's soccer program Sunday afternoon.
The match was moved 15 miles down the road to Drew University after heavy rain in the area made the Highlanders' home field unplayable.
Berdan scored the game-winner in the 35th minute when her shot from the corner of the box found the upper-left edge of the net.
On the opposite end of the field, Jacksonville's best chance of the afternoon occurred 10 minutes into the second half when Zoe Zinis' shot rattled off the post.
The Dolphins put five of their 13 shots on-goal and were led by Jessica Shaffelburg. She pressured NJIT's keeper the entire match with three attempts on frame.
After a weekend filled with inclement weather, lengthy travels and venue changes, the Dolphins (3-9-1, 1-3-1 ASUN) will look to regroup Saturday at Florida Gulf Coast. Kick-off is set for 7 p.m.
