Howell, Phillips Compete at Music City Challenge

Stormm Phillips triple jump, Michelle Howell 800m run

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Seniors Stormm Phillips and Michelle Howell competed for Jacksonville University women's track and field at the Music City Challenge, hosted by Vanderbilt, Saturday afternoon.

Nearing her own school record (42 feet, 5.5 inches) set back in 2016, Phillips placed second overall in the triple jump, and led the collegians, with a leap of 12.80 meters (42 ft., 0 in.). Her distance is top among the ASUN Conference and ranks in the top 30 nationally.

Later in the day, Howell raced to fifth place in the 800-meter run. Her time of 2:08.67 marks her second quickest finish in the event so far this season. Additionally, Howell tops the ASUN after a 2:06.80 finish at the Scarlet and White Invitational last weekend.

Phillips, Howell, and the rest of the Dolphins return to the track next weekend, Feb. 16-17, for the ASUN Conference Indoor Championships, hosted at Liberty University.
