Dolphin ace Sarah Sigrest was named the Atlantic Sun Pitcher
of the Week Monday after going a perfect 3-0 last week with three straight
shutout performances.
This marks the fourth time in her career that Sigrest has
been named the conference “Pitcher of the Week†and the first time this season.
In her three outings last week, Sigrest struck out 22
batters in 21 innings without giving up a run for a perfect 0.00 ERA. She pitched with control only walking three
batters during that span. Opposing
hitters had a .185 batting average against her and managed to record just 15
hits over the three games with all of those hits being singles.Â
Sigrest, the reigning A-Sun Pitcher of the Year and the
Preseason Pitcher of the Year, is now 7-3 on the season with a 2.02 ERA. She has struck out a total of 80 batters in
2012 in just 76.1 innings.Â
The Dolphins return to action on Wednesday when they host
Delaware State for a double header at the JU Softball Complex scheduled to
start at 5:00 pm.
