JU Hosts FGCU In Another Showdown of A-Sun Leaders On Saturday Afternoon

The Game
For the second time in three days Jacksonville (12-11; 7-3 A-Sun) hosts a match-up of A-Sun leaders as Florida Gulf Coast (15-8; 7-3 A-Sun) visits historic Swisher Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon at 3:15 pm.  Following Thursday night’s results, the Dolphins and Eagles were tied with USC Upstate for first at 7-3.  Mercer is half-a-game back at 6-3 heading into Friday’s game vs Kennesaw State.

JU has won five of the last six following a 71-70 win over Stetson on Thursday. Junior Keith McDougald led the way for the Dolphins with 19 points, including the game winning jumper with 20 seconds left. McDougald has given JU a huge lift in A-Sun play averaging five more (15.0 - 10.0) points per game compared to non-league action while improving his shooting from the field (47.2% - 34.7%) & from three (45.0% - 17.9%).

The freshmen duo of Kordario Fleming & Jarvis Haywood were also a major factor on Thursday combining for 27 points.  Fleming scored all nine of his second half points in the final 10 minutes as he finished with a career best 16 points.  Haywood meanwhile was all over the stat sheet with 11 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals.    

FGCU has won three straight following an 89-75 win at North Florida on Thursday.  Sherwood Brown leads the team with 15.6 points and 6.2 rebounds.  The Eagles won the first meeting this season 78-55.
 
Series History
Jacksonville leads the all-time series 7-4.  The Dolphins are looking to end a four game skid against FGCU.
