Box Score JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Kori Babineaux notched his third 20-point outing in the last five games but it wasn't enough for the Dolphins to slow down a hot shooting North Florida team on Friday night. Babineaux totaled 23 points to lead all scorers, but the Ospreys hit 12 three-pointers on the way to a 77-50 victory at UNF Arena.
"In the first half I told our guys I was pleased with the way we played," said Head Coach Tony Jasick. "We tried to control the game and I thought we did a good job of that."
Jacksonville overcame an early 10-2 deficit with a 14-8 run powered by 10 points from Babineaux that pulled the Dolphins to within 2 at 18-16 midway through the half. After Babineauex picked up his second foul of the half at 10:06, UNF would use an 18-5 run over the next six minutes to secure a 15-point, 36-21 advantage.
Marcellous Bell, who finished with 13 points, would then hit a three-pointer in the final minute of the half to close the margin to 36-25 at the break.
"It was a game at the half and we just couldn't stick to the discipline and the details we need to play with to really make any headway in the second half," said Jasick.
In the second half the Dolphins were unable to pull any closer as UNF capitalized second chance opportunities and turnovers while hitting on 13-14 from the foul line.
"A couple of offensive rebounds by them and some turnovers on our end and it started to get away from us," Jasick said. "For us we have to control the tempo. In the first half they didn't get to the foul line, but then in the second half we weren't able to control the tempo in the same way and they got to the free throw line a bunch."
Jacksonville continues its second three game road swing of the year next week with games at Kennesaw State and USC Upstate. Follow the action on 92.5 FM.
