Box Score JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Nine hits, including home runs from Austin Hays and JJ Gould, were not enough for Jacksonville as the Dolphins suffered their first loss of the season, 10-6, Wednesday against North Florida at Harmon Stadium.
"After an emotional win last night, I thought our effort and energy was good," said Head Coach Tim Montez. "We got a lot of different arms in there tonight, and we saw a lot of positives tonight. You can expect a slugfest like that between these two programs as a preview of what's to come in conference play."
The Ospreys (4-5) broke open a 6-6 tie by scoring twice in the sixth inning on a two-run single by Corbin Olmstead after Jacksonville tied the game in the top of the inning on a solo shot from Gould. UNF would go on to add two more runs in the eighth inning off singles from Olmstead and Bubba Olivera.
Jacksonville (4-1) opened the scoring in the first inning with an RBI single by Hays to plate Parker Perez, who tripled. UNF would take the lead in the bottom of the inning thanks to an Olmstead single and Alex Merritt sacrifice fly.
The Dolphins regained the lead in the third inning when Hays blasted his third homer of the season, a three-run dinger to deep left field. Again, UNF would answer by an RBI single, this time from Olivera.
Jacksonville would score once in the fourth inning, thanks to a leadoff triple by Gould and RBI groundout by Seth DeWitt.
The Ospreys scored the next three runs with a two-run home run in the fourth by Christian Diaz and Dolphin error in the fifth inning.
Chris Gau made his first career start for Jacksonville and pitched two innings. Ryan Granda worked two innings in relief, and Mike Schappell (0-1) took the loss in his 1.1 innings. Perez, Ryan Quintero, and Shane Wise also pitched to total six pitchers used by JU.

"We've got a lot of baseball this weekend with a good Columbia team that went to a NCAA Regional last year," said Montez.
Jacksonville is at home this weekend to host Columbia for a four-game series that begins Friday, Mar. 4, at 6:00 p.m.
