Box Score WORCESTER, Mass. – A scoreless second half negated a hat trick by junior Mitchell Parker as Jacksonville University fell to Holy Cross, 10-6, here Saturday.
Parker, an attacker from Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada, helped power the Dolphins (2-6) to a 6-4 first half lead before the second half shut out.
After falling behind 1-0, the Dolphins reeled off five consecutive goals as Chase Miller scored a pair and Evan Tyler added another.
The Crusaders (1-8) picked up their first win of the season when the defense stiffened in the second half and came up with 12 ground balls and scored six goals. The game winner came with 6:24 to play when HC's Jon Vogel, who had four goals the day and has 23 on the season scored.
Parker, a junior, who had five goals in game against UMass Lowell earlier this season, also had an assist in Saturday's loss.
"It's a very disappointing result after a strong first 25 minutes,'' JU head coach Guy Van Arsdale said. "We continue to struggle with handling the ball and recognizing situations. It is on me to find ways to overcome and improve in these areas.''
The Dolphins were 15 of 15 on clear attempts during the game and nabbed 13 of 20 face offs.
The Dolphins return to Southern Conference action Saturday with a noon game at Furman.
