Box Score ATHENS, Ga. – No. 20 Minnesota scored 17 runs in the first inning Sunday, en route to a 20-4 victory over Jacksonville University in their final outing of the Georgia Softball Classic.
The Dolphins concluded their five-game appearance in the tournament with a pair of wins over Austin Peay and setbacks against No. 9 Georgia, Western Carolina and the Gophers.
Minnesota scored 17 runs on 12 hits and two errors in the first inning. In the home half of the frame, Ciara Jones reached on a fielding error and later scored after Danielle Baker homered to left center.
The Dolphins added runs in the third and fourth innings; the final came after Allie McCourt tripled and was brought home on a sacrifice fly.
Jacksonville returns to the Debbie & Fred Pruitt Complex Tuesday for a doubleheader against George Mason. Game one is set for 5:00 p.m.
