Box Score GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Jacksonville University gave up seven second period goals and dropped its sixth consecutive game, 13-7, to Southern Conference opponent Furman here Saturday.
The Dolphins (2-7, 0-3) built a 4-1 lead behind a pair of goals from junior attacker Mitchell Parker and single scores from sophomore Shawn Ewert and freshman Evan Tyler with 14:43 to play in the second when the Paladins (2-7, 2-1) went on a rampage.
Furman reeled off the next four goals, JU's Eric Applegate responded but the Paladins ended the half with three more goals in the final 1:16 for an 8-5 lead at the break. The seven goals in the period came on an efficient 12 shots Furman tried.
The Dolphin offense was shutout in the third period and junior Doran Graham added a fourth period goal and teammate Dakota Rohlin rounded out the scoring with 4:02 to play.
Ewert, Chase York and Tyler each had assists for the Dolphins and goal keeper ben Gleichenhaus had 13 saves on 40 Furman shots.
JU returns home Saturday with another SoCon game at noon against VMI.
