Box Score JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville University women's lacrosse juggernaut continued to steamroll its way through the Atlantic Sun Conference with a 23-3 win over Howard at wind-swept D.B. Milne Field Friday.
A team record 16 different JU (8-4, 3-0) players led the stampede of the Bison as the Dolphins continued their all-time unbeaten streak in the A-Sun which now is 19 games. Howard fell to 0-8, 0-2.
Junior Danielle Della Rocca and freshman Lillie Miller each had a hat tricks to lead the Dolphins who built a 12-0 lead early in the first half.
Australian Ashtyn Hiron and teammates Amelia Pedwell and MacEllen McDonough each had two goals in the win. It was the second two-goal game of the season for McDonough.
In three conference games this season, JU has outscored opponents 65-9.
The win, JU associate coach Paul McCord said, wasn't as easy as the final score may indicate.
"We respect Howard and the constant pressure they put on us,'' he said. "This was a great team win and a great way to get all of our player experience on the field. They work hard in practice and it's nice to see them all play.''
McCord also paid tribute to JU professors who were honored at the game.
We are thankful to the professors who came today and to our teachers who make JU a very personalized education. This game is dedicated to them.''
JU takes on Old Dominion in a crucial A-Sun matchup at home Sunday. Game time is noon, it is Youth Day with free popcorn and snow cones to kids and the game will be televised at noon.
