LakePoint, Ga.- Helping to lead the Dolphins to their second 5-2 ASUN Conference start in the last three seasons, Jacksonville University men's basketball's Jace Hogan has once again been recognized by the league. The junior won ASUN Newcomer of the Week for the second time this season, leading the team to a home win over Stetson last Wednesday.

"We are excited for Jace. Anytime a player earns an award it is both a testament to themselves and their teammates," said Head Coach Tony Jasick.

"Hopefully, we can continue to build on this in the second half of league play."

Hogan averaged 20 points and 4.5 boards in a pair of contests this week. In the victory over the Hatters, he was one of three 'Phins to put up double-figures, adding six rebounds to his 17 points. The Naval Academy transfer led all scorers in Saturday's contest against Florida Gulf Coast, posting 23 points in the affair. The mark now gives him six games this season where he has eclipsed the 20 point mark. Hogan also continued to show a strong efficiency mark with his work this week, shooting 18-31 from the field, good for 58.1 percent. He drained just the second three-pointer of his career in JU's loss to the Eagles, attempting multiple triples in a game for the first time ever as a Dolphin.

Hogan's award brings Jacksonville's total on the season to eight, the most in the ASUN thus far. The Dolphins reel in an accolade for the fifth time in the past six weeks, with Devin Harris, Jalyn Hinton, and JD Notae all also taking home honors this season. Hogan is now a two-time Newcomer of the Week winner, having taken home the trophy on Nov. 27, 2017. The leading scorer on the squad (16.6 PPG), he has put up double-figures in 16 games this season, and has hit the double-double mark six times, the most in modern program history in a single season.

The Dolphins are back in action Monday evening against Stetson in Deland, Fla., competing on the back half of a weekend road trip. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. at the Edmunds Center.
